Execution By Hanging : Guy Fawkes - Lewes Bonfire Celebrations
June 5, 2011 at 22:18 by admin
In Guy Fawkes day, if convicted of treason the execution would go along the lines of being drawn by a horse to the place of execution, usually on a hurdle, and your hands tied. Females were usually burnt at the stake for treason.
Once stripped of your clothing, you would be taken to the scaffold, have the rope placed around your neck, then dropped down gently and be left hanging for a short period, but only to cause partial strangulation and near death.
You will then be taken down and then be disembowelled, and if a male, you will be emasculated (Castrated) as well. If still conscious at this point you might see your privates and entrails thrown onto a fire and burnt, before your heart is removed.
Your body will then be decapitated, signalling an unquestionable death, and then it will be quartered (chopped into four pieces). Each dismembered piece of your body will then be displayed publicly, as a warning to others.
