May 15, 2015 at 5:10 pm by v
A highlight of the summer season is always the Lewes Skittles Tournament held in Grange Gardens for a week in June. The Tournament is run by the Rotary Club of Lewes supported by other local organisations. The event was started in 1970’s with 6 lanes and had gradually improved and expanded from then, so now 18 lanes are run to meet the demand.
For the hundreds each year who take part or just watch, it is fun and relaxed event and a chance to bring together social and business teams for an evening of friendly competition. From team entry fees, advertising sponsorship, donations, raffles, the beer tent, the burger stand and other activities, the Skittles Tournament generates funds to enable The Rotary Club of Lewes to support charities and local people in need.
The Tournament has several competitions. The main teams have eight players and the best scoring teams from each evening during the week are invited to the Saturday Finals Night. Women’s teams of six players have a competition of Friday night. There are also other team classifications so the highest scoring team in the various categories during the week can win a trophy to be awarded on Finals Night.
Monday through to Saturday (15th – 20th) At The Grange Gardens, Southover Road, Lewes. BN71AB For More Details See The Lewes Skittles Tournament : Rotary Club Website Here
