Mumford And Sons Lewes - Lewes Bonfire Night Celebrations
July 16, 2013 at 10:50 pm by v
Stage being set for Mumford & Sons, the Gentlemen of the road tour for their Lewes Stopover at the Convent Field. I really do hope that Lewes District Council have done their homework on this, as 25,000 spectators alone will be crammed into the convent field for two whole days, and that’s without all the associated workers on the site. So to all of you that discredit the Lewes Bonfire Night Celebrations and our organising and policing of 70,000 spectators spread across the whole town for one evening “You Aint Seen Nothing Yet!”
All of the Lewes Bonfire Societys will be watching this Mumford & Sons event with great interest and amusement and woe betide any authority that claims that they can do better, because we know that it is going to go tits up! Already it has come to light, that there will be no trains after midnight and that some pubs will be open till 2am, and there might not be any staff to manage the on site bars, a recipe for trouble. Roll On The Fifth Of November!
UPDATE . . I take anything negative that I have said back, the whole weekend was brilliant, LDC pulled out all the stops and there is now talk of an Annual Lewes Festival, Bring It On ! I was lucky enough to be on the Bonfire United Bar Team and between us all, we took loads of dosh to help fund our 5th November Lewes Bonfire Night Celebrations.

Hosting the festival, which brought 25,000-43,000 visitors to Lewes for the duration, Mumford and Sons wanted to make sure all local facilities were utilized, including local beer supplied by Harveys Brewery. They assisted in the brewing of the limited edition Lewes Stopover Brew in July, which was released a week before the festival. The new Harvey Hop Bar Trailer was at the event and worked in unison with a 50ft bar, manned by all of the seven Lewes Bonfire Societies. Click Here For Harveys Brewery Website
